Our journey from a simple idea to a thriving business has been nothing short of transformative, and we owe much of our success to the support and guidance of IMI Kolkata.
It all began during a two-month internship when our co-founder, Ayush Dutta, delved into researching India’s FMCG sector. With a history of entrepreneurial ventures, including a digital marketing agency and a website development company, Ayush wanted to create something tangible—something impactful in the product-based segment.
During his research, he identified the cleaning chemical industry as a high-potential, unorganized market with growing demand in both the B2B and retail sectors. Through visits to Bara Bazar. online research, and conversations with raw material manufacturers, Ayush crafted the first batch of cleaning products by hand.
However, he faced challenges in understanding the legal, financial, and operational aspects of the business. That’s when he partnered with Kunal Pramanik, a batchmate with a business background and extensive experience in growing his family business. Together, they laid the foundation for AKS Global and the brand Clear Choice.
The journey from idea to execution was made possible by the incredible support of IMI Kolkata and its Neev Incubation Center. Here’s how IMI Kolkata helped us turn our vision into reality:
1. Mentorship and Guidance
IMI Kolkata provided us with invaluable mentorship from faculty and industry experts. They helped us refine our business model, structure our operations, and build a solid foundation for scaling the business.
2. Seed Funding
Starting a business requires capital, and IMI Kolkata stepped in with seed funding that allowed us to produce our first batch of products, invest in branding, and reach our target audience effectively.
3. Infrastructure Support
Through the Neev Incubation Center, we gained access to manufacturing and storage facilitiet, eliminating the financial burden of setting up our own infrastructure. This gave us the flexibility to focus on product quality and customer acquisition.
4. Practical Learning
As MBA students, the courses at IMI Kolkata equipped us with the skills to navigate real-world challenges:
- Marketing: Helped us segment our audience and position Clear Choice as a premium brand.
- Finance: Taught us how to manage costs, optimize pricing, and ensure sustainable profitability.
- Operations: Provided insights into supply chain management, ensuring our products reach customers on time.
Today, Clear Choice offers a diverse range of cleaning products designed to cater to the hospitality, healthcare, and food service industries. Our products provide 99.99% germ protection while leaving spaces with refreshing, long-lasting fragrances.
